Ballymacnab 1-06 Mullaghbawn 3-08

Our Under 16s played Mullaghbawn on Thursday evening in the First Round of the Championship but unfortunately bowed out. Mullaghbawn were first off the mark with two points before Stephen King split the posts from a free. Stephen King then hit a high ball into the square which caught the ‘keeper unaware and dropped into the net. Mullaghbawn came back with a goal of their own before hitting home another from the resulting kick out. They added another three points before half time whistle blew to leave the visitors ahead 1-1 to 2-5 to. Ballymacnab started the second half with a more determined fashion and two points from the dead ball from Stephen King and one from play from Shaun Casey point left just four between the sides as Ballymacnab began to building momentum. Stephen McGuigan then got forward from midfield to raise a white flag before Stephen King pointed another free kick. There were now only two in it and it was all to play for. However, it was Mullaghbawn kick started got their first score of the half with a goal. Two points followed and this ended the game on the score line of 1-6 to 3-8. A promising second half performance from the boys to get back in the game was just not enough and will now be placed in the Shield knock out.
